Agreed if you don't no what your doing either either pay for long tail pro or even pay someone to do it this is one of the most important steps and if you get it wrong everything else wont work.

Built new site from old CMS to WordPress changing all then links.
Redirect all the old links to the relevant places
Submitted site maps to Google for new structure....

May I ask why .asp is better?

They want the old site taken down as its an eye-sore and the CMS is impossible for them to use.

I always find that adwords has been cheaper and created a better conversion rate. Facebook I use mainly for brand awareness.
