Rather than subdomain (which looks "messy"), why not use a redirect. So that your link would be: www.genericdomain.com/redtissuepaper

Looks less of an obvious affiliate tactic. (IMO)

Hubpages don't usually earn as much as eHow. eHow has a higher pr, so your articles rank higher in google search returns.

IMO, adsense is the easiest way to earn money with sites/blogs. It's totally passive. You could try affiliate or CPA networks, but using those involves work. That's time you could be spending...

I'd either pick another longtail keyword (rearrange the words or use a synonym for one of the words), or use the .net. Hyphens suck for several reasons. .net sucks a little less.

Contact the techs at adsense. There are some password protected sites that DO have adsense on them. It requires some wite authentication steps, but you might qualify. Good luck!
