But, you can still schedule tweets to go out, and manage your users through it. The older version did a lot of it automatically.

I agree with starting a list, and adwords. maybe run a survey to see what the people on the list are really interested in and why they come there, to see what items might appeal to them.

Seems to me it is also a matter of time. Most of us, especially starting out, cant get a bunch of traffic to a site right away, but can build a list quickly.

I agree, do it naturally. We always want to see big numbers, but if they arent doing the interaction the way we need them to, ie, sharing and visiting, they are worth anything anyway.
