I use custom sites almost exclusively, either from scratch or css template sites that I edit to my liking. Wordpress is great too. It really doesn't make any difference what format you use as it is...

I used to use Website Tonight by Godaddy. User friendly and very functional. Homestead had awesome templates but cost more.
