Yes that is the drawback about it. I usually just copy and paste comment-template.php over my new upgrade. That doesn't take that long but make sure you backup your new comment-template.php file...

I don't think your site is in Google's sandbox. Type site:catering-oakville.com you can still see many urls indexed. One of my friend's sites used to be in Google's sandbox. I saw nothing when I type...

Joomla's urls are not search engine friendly, but you can install sh404 SEF to change all your urls search engine friendly. Yes. A Joomla site can rank as well as a WordPress site.

Before you do this, make sure you have a copy of your style.css in case anything goes wrong.

Depends on your theme, you should look for #container or #content; then put background: #ffffff inside...
