This is pretty much what I would do. You can have still have a blog, either way. Just make sure your squeeze page is on a stand alone page or domain.

It's always a struggle for me as well to let people know what I actually do. Especially older folks for some reason. I usually go with "I use the internet to sell information people want/need".
