Well it looks ok but not really modern or web 2.0ish to be honest. The black background is also a little harsh, making it look a little like a warez site.

I think the problem is that IE 6 doesn't display transparent png images (and it seems that's what your header is using) correctly. Maybe you could change them to .gifs though...

I don't think Google will count the links when they are not life (i.e. just the pasted url) except when the site converts them to live links. Still, with anchor text is always better.

Well, quality is very subjective, too. I think most users will measure quality mostly by how useful a website is for them and not take into account some cool design/programming language used, etc..

There are many plugins for wordpress which convert links for tag and archive pages, etc to nofollow automatically. I never used any but you should find them by searching for "nofollow" in the plugin...

I think the Digitalpoint Keyword tool is a good choice to track SE rankings. But I guess they require a Google API key as well (can't remember right now), its probably not possible without one.

Well, it's basically the same as with every webpage out there. For it to rank (especially for competitive terms) you have to promote it to some extend by placing links to it etc.
