You don't really get a slap, a slight penalty that is scalable would be proper. And the penalty doesn't occur if websites share content. You get the penalty if the same domain (possibly same IP) has...

Since submitting a new sitemap, G is finding the posts but immediately tries to find the same post under the shorter permalink as before.

What is strange, is the permalink structure hasn't changed...

So based on what you are saying, is I should expect it to climb the SERPs as it ages? The ad that is sticking has very poor copy for SEO. Literally a few sentences and a CB link without anchored...
