I agree, there are lots of websites that don't have a keyword in their domain, and rank very highly for hundreds of keywords, but they are also HUGE sites, that put in tons of money, time, and do so...

i always get the .net version of the exact match domain IF .com is gone, then after .net, go for .org...but that is it....i dont think any of the other extensions are that strong for SEO to easily...
