I agree, the keywords need to be relevant. My own personal experience was that an anchor text density of 3% for a keyword was fine, but an anchor text density of 7% got that keyword dropped in...

I agree with Mike. I would be most concerned with type, quality of the sites, and anchor text.

I'm doing guests posts and am seeing a lot of benefit. I'm scarred of PR web and the like, mostly because I saw something from Matt Cutts saying that they probably wouldn't value that type of link....

Page rank is huge. I spent a lot of time trying to develop backlinks with scrapebox to rank a page to no avail. One dofollow link from a P.R. 4 blog and it went to the first page.

I had a lot of problems with Your Private Proxy (customer service). I use squid proxies now and I've had no issues.
