Yes, I have a few forums, they can be a pain but they are good money earners I think. Mostly however, I use forums on my existing sites to simply always have new content which the engines can index....

I have had this happen too. I opened a new site, and after 7 days I was on page 4 of my main key words, then 2 days later I was on page 3, another 2 days later I was on page 2 and then about a week...
