The images are sliced, diced and optimised for mobile with the layout, image resizing being hamdled by the CSS.

I guess this will come down to personal preference really...I agree with Peter in that download time differences will be minimal with any decent 3G connection and that goes for images too!

Wordpress plugins arent creating a dedicated mobile version of the website they are installed on, in so much as they are simply serving up a mobile optimised version of the desktop version...meaning...

You're absolutely correct Vince...Here's what I did in running a small test campaign on Admob, rather than trying to sell directly off the mobile page which still has it's 'early days' teething...
