Yes, even no-follow links can help to some extent. But the main reason to be on a forum is to contribute anyway - not to exclusively build backlinks

You can either create your own images, ask the site owners permission to use the images, or you can simply do a google search for "stock images" or "royalty free images"

I will never trust testimonials again. I searched Fiverr the other day and found actors selling their services to create fake testimonials.
