I've seen it as the most effective link building technique, you may be doing it wrong. Your backlinks should be from body, natural looking and also there should be 1 to 2 links to authority sites....

I think you shouldn't be involved in pligg type backlinking because google do not like it. Just focus on original content. No backlinks can compete original content. And i don't like this forum...
