No straight answers for that, but here are a few scenarios....

If the products is in "Launch Phase" or "High Priced" perhaps a long one pager formal copy with some extra bonus is...

Hi Robert,
If you are talking about "cold traffic", then linking to a pre-sell page is for one reason alone....to make you stand out from others.

But if you are emailing to your own subscribers...
