I fully agree with HKSEO Rotzee. I also think that checking your SERP with any tool will give you a LOT more information than checking the backlinks or their number... ;)

Definitely. You want your links to be crawled by Google, so you need to ping until the spiders come crawling. If you don't want to do that, I recommend using a service like Linklicious.
