It is definately better, but each one needs to be big. Google loves large sites that are updated often. The social interaction on the sites you mentioned is a huge factor.

It means competition on Adwords is low, so the cost per click is low. It doesn't mean the organic competition is low. You need to use the allintitle search to check that.
