RE: Freelancers promoting as self or company?

Use "we" in business communications for a professional image but explain you're solo when talking directly with clients.

Re: Freelancers promoting as self or company?

I was a freelance writer for several years and referred to me, myself and I. Using 'we' felt pretentious to me. However, according to my son - since I had at least one dog under my desk and a cat...

Re: Freelancers promoting as self or company?

I'd say you're probably overthinking this. It might be too late now to alter your brand name, but as an individual freelance writer, your name could have been your brand (eg John Smith Studios) which...

Re: Freelancers promoting as self or company?

How do you position your service(s) in your promotional copy? Are you a hands-on expert with a wealth of experience, or a generalist offering a suite of services?

Or maybe it varies depending on...

Re: Freelancers promoting as self or company?

Since you are an established business, I think it is fine for
you to represent yourself as a company, and refer to your
business as "my company" or "our office."

Nobody is going to accuse you...

Re: Can my niche abroad be my native English?

I'm so glad that I could help.

You could definitely come up with different income streams
with writing/content development, but it can be whatever
works for you.

Some examples are:

Re: Can my niche abroad be my native English?

Your niche can be whatever you want it to be, as long as
it is profitable, but the days of having one income source
are over.

You should probably diversify and develop at least three ...

Re: Is it okay to tag my clients' business names on LinkedIn?

You seem to be asking the same question in different ways. In my opinion, you should never use a client you worked for in any way...without their permission.

It is not unusual for a client who...

Re: Is it okay to tag my clients' business names on LinkedIn?

It probably just goes to what level of business you're on.

If you go to any agency site that does work for major companies they always show their work unless there's an agreement.

If you go to...

Re: Is it okay to tag my clients' business names on LinkedIn?

I would care, anyway.
I probably would say yes, if asked. But I think it is rude to announce things about me/my companies without my approval.

And rude is always unprofessional.

Re: Is it okay to tag my clients' business names on LinkedIn?

You can probably tag and nobody will really care...if you can document you did the work and it was used...

unless, there was an NCA, a CA, a CDA, or something similar. You need to also make sure...

Re: Is it okay to tag my clients' business names on LinkedIn?

Whether it's Linkedin or anywhere else, I think the time to establish this is during your dealings with the client. I would certainly be less than pleased if a contractor publically referenced work I...

RE: How to invoice outsourced translations for my client?

Re: How to invoice outsourced translations for my client?

As you can tell from the wrong replies - you are making this much more difficult than needed.

If you need to outsource translation services...do it. YOU hire the translator and pay them....tack...

Why is there a test in the first place. Don't you have a portfolio they can look at.

Re: Invoice agency for test assignment?

You're a professional, and you've put in a day's work. Of course you invoice them. If you don't respect the value of your time, neither will your clients.

Re: Invoice agency for test assignment?

Maybe wait a little before you invoice them to see if you will be working with them long-term, then make your decision from there. If it ends up they don't want you long-term, invoice them and see...

Re: Need advice on payment terms for client that's bailing

Re: Need advice on payment terms for client that's bailing

I would delete the "would you like...." question. That leaves the door open to negotiation. Send one invoice - list the travel as a separate item and be clear that payment is 'due'.

Would be...

Assuming you were on track to meet deadlines for the project, I think 70% is reasonable due to giving them the notes/audio from the interviews. They will have two completed articles, one draft...

Your price justifies this achievement.

Re: Tagline pricing?

I had a company naming and tagline business for 10+ years and charged $1000 for a set of either names or taglines - and that was a cut-rate fee. If it's a sizable company you're working with,...

Re: Turning My Freelance Copywriting Career Into a Business Entity
