Don't use a plugin, unless you absolutely have to. This can be easily fixed through CSS (display:none). If you paste your site's URL here, you'll get your code solution.

Two suggestions though -

(1) I think it'd be better to link the entire image (instead of the headline) in the slider to the post/article. It's not immediately clear...

I'll do my best. But to get the hang of it you will have to get your hands dirty with firebug AND CSS as well.

You are right, firebug is indeed an addon.
