Is there any particular reason why you need DVDs? Maybe a well-written tutorial would be beneficial. Also, I suggest starting with the Wordpress Codex or wordpress.org. It does a decent job...

Landing pages. The plus to using landing pages is that you can presell the offer. Setting up an autoresponder and collecting e-mails may be better because then you'll be able to contact those people...

Definitely. You want your links to be crawled by Google, so you need to ping until the spiders come crawling. If you don't want to do that, I recommend using a service like Linklicious.
