StudioPress is a lousy theme to edit or customize.
There are better ones on Theme Forest, and they're cheaper too! (Go figure. Better + cheaper!)

There are some stunning portfolio themes on themeforest. They are responsive and most have a layout/page builder. They cost $45+ but you get what you pay for :)
