I've used Media.net for a couple of years. It's a solid alternative to adsense for certain types of sites and they are a lot more responsive than big G. (as in they have humans you can talk to)

iMMer nailed it, set up a US Corporation and bank account and then get a new adsense account for the corp. It will cost some $ to set up and maintain but you will be legit.

Just don't price in pounds or euro to Americans. If you offer a price in a currency other than USD to Americans your conversion rate will be awful.
