How many results have you set it to return? If it's 100 it was often return lots of results from the top few sites. It's it's 10 then it will return varied results including "other" domains.

If you haven't changed anything and have not been caught buying or selling links then it could be a google algo. I've also seen seasonal changes do this, and once a couple of strong inbound links...
