A lot of us prefer to just get a top level domain and do a redirect at first.

If the niche shows promise and we can add value with a blog or landing page then we do that.

Depending on what it is you do, you will find them very reasonable if you get a reseller account. I have seen them add additional services and options...

Get a reseller account at HostGator and you can host as many sites on the server as you want to without your monthly price changing. That's what I have.
