I think people confuse what exactly manual and automatic linking practices are at their core. You can leverage software to do EXACTLY what you are doing manually if you know how to use it correctly....

When you do a search, go to the URL and add "&pws=0" to very end of the URL string. This we depersonalize your results.

From my experience, only .com's are useful for exact match keywords. (and Matt Cutt's said it is something they are looking at giving even less authority to)
