As for me all of my sites do not have dates in their URLs for fear of oitsated content and I think it ahould be that way. But if you look bog sites, some of them have dates and they eank well.

It is an evergreen method, but it depends on the quality of the article. If it was poorly written or spun content, then the last two google updates punished the articles and the sites it linked to.

The article submission is not the problem. It's the "micro niche site" stuff that won't work anymore. Google values Authority. Always has, but way more now after Panda/Penguin.
