You should certainly keep them engaged through facebook & twitter. I have found pinterest to be mostly worthwhile only with niches with lots of visual content, such as food recipies or fashion.

People definitely buy templates for forums.. I think vBulletin and SMF would probably be your two best bets. It's just like Wordpress themes though. Maybe not quite as big, but there is money in it...

Bluehost varies all day long, every day. So when you tested it, it was probably fine. But when we tried to look, it was slow. That's common (infamous) at EIG brands.
