For the record, that is NOT the description of curation. It is the way the lazy and uninformed may do it and then call it curation because they don't want to say that they're too lazy to do it right.

I think option 1 is also appropriate. I don't Think so that new domain also get passes penalty. AND if you found any risk in option 1 then option 3 is most reliable for SEO.

I guess that most people that their sites were killed were probably spamming links with fiverr gigs and low quality articles/services... If you don't do that then Google just loves you! So simple.
