I would have to go with a lack of focus and not following through on projects. Having so many unfinished projects when I first started out, wish I took the time to finish them instead of moving on...

I would feel the second option would give you the best conversions. However, you should a small change to the model and still collect people's email address so you can market to them after the trial...
