Actually, it's very easy to request that GetResponse waive the confirmation (re-optin) email process. Compliance will waive the confirmation requirement if they find no issues with the list....

What I do is a sitewide redirect for any dead links/pages instead of having a 404 page. IMO a 404 page is useless for traffic & waste...
