Landing pages allow you to pre-sell the offer and warm up your visitors before directing them to the offer page.

Sending traffic directly to a CPA offer page is called direct linking...

In the simplest form, you're right. You simply have to match your offers to the correct traffic source and demographic and this should equal commissions.
