1) I was also asked for the Akismet key but i ignored it. You can always download a plugin tha performs similar function lik Akismet.

2) Download "All in one SEO" plugin to make your permalinks...

It depends on where bulk of your backlinks are coming from. If you have loads of backlinks from sites in the UK then you will rank well for google.co.uk.

Just continue building links. The same thing happened to me sometime. Infact i see google dance as a good thing because when your position becomes steady it even clims higher than it was previously.
