With 100's - 1000's concurrent visitors your shared hosting days are over. Either a powerful well configured VPS or a dedicated server are your best options.

Go dedicated for sure, but Hostgator dedicated may not be your best choice.

Dedicated, hostgator - don't build your business on some poor quality servers, the faster your site loads the better it perfoms in both SERPS and conversions

What are your bandwidth and storage requirements? I recommend either mediatemple, stablehost (enterprise plans), or liquidwebhosting.

Media and liquid are the big ones that you can easily upgrade...

Choose dedicated servers or VPS hosting, if you are able to generate at least 100,000 unique visitors monthly. Hostgator is still best choice.
