Re: Capitalization rules in copy guidelines?

Yeah, I think the consensus is go with readability first.

Grammar is something that is fairly subjective; not many people know the rules so they understand what's right and wrong in their own way....

Here's some advice on text in GIMP: http://gimp-tutorials.net/taxonomy/term/6

Re: Advice to new/all writers

Great advice, having too much work can be soul destroying. You want to give quality but the quantity is too high.

Re: Advertising to IT service providers; any suggestions?

Thanks Sanjay.

The term 'IT Service Provider' is one from the client, and they are looking to cover a fairly broad market.

Obviously the term could cover everyone in IT, which would certainly...

Re: What's your copywriting history?

Sounds familair to me too! I kinda fell into copywriting, after wanting to get into journalism (not too much choice for English graduates). I did some work experience at it and it seemed exactly as...

Re: ***First Time Writing Copy Any Suggestions To Make It Convert?***

Try not to use closed questions. It's great to get people saying yes but if they say no you might lose them.

Re: How To Sell A Book; Some of the Finest Copy Ever Written.

I think it's pretty hard to write copy about fiction. I don't like this extract, mostly because the book sounds awful.

Re: Suppose the copy fee was $15,000...

I think you need to believe in something to write about it. If you don't you won't be abl eto sell it. If you believe in the sorts of thigns you're talking about, I'm sure you could. Morals are...

Re: Looking for a Critique! My first sales page

If you want some quick points:

-Try and use fewer questions
-Don't use long words ie. volatility or technical terms unless you have to
-Shorter sentences

I hope this helps, keep up the hard...

Re: Would You Give Away ALL Your Hard-Earned Money?

I think a lot of the time copywriters are concerned mostly with making lots of money. I'd like to think if I ever made a lot i'd give al least some away. I mostly only want enough to live.

Re: "Yes, I hear you're a copyright-er?"

I agree with the people saying that good copy includes social proof.

In fact, when we strip it down, copy is social proof. You talk about reviews sites etc. and how much they convince people....

Re: How can I convert better?

I'd pretty much agree with everyone else, but I'd say a clear and distinctive call to action is the most important part. You can go to a few more details after that. I'd say there's room for a video...

Re: Does a coach need to be more skilled than you?

It really does depend. I think you'd want them to have skills which you don't possess. I don't think they have to be better than you, I think it's always helpful to have someone to offer criticism.
