Sorry arief, it's OK, it seems that most PSD icon templates do not come with any instructions on how to expot or save the icon you want out of the template once you've edited the layers.

Brad dude, i could do that, and I did - only trouble is, one of my header images would disappear!!! It's so bizarre, I can either have hyperlinks and a big chunk of the website header background...
