Yes: Rethink that! Don't measure vanity metrics, measure what actually matters: conversions, revenue, profit, ROI. You don't care which banner gets more clicks, you care which banner puts more money...

what you should do is setup a tracking link for each traffic source, you can use bitly, but I use a plugin for wordpress called max a/b

This way I can see exactly what traffic sources are...

I think Terry Kyle released a wordpress plugin in a while back that tracked what link on your page was clicked on, I don't know the name of it but maybe you could search. Or use Pretty Links plugin,...

I think you could also use Google analytics and check on In Page Analytics, to see where you're visitors are clicking.

even better, use woopra. Copy paste a small tracking code onto each page of your website and it will let you measure conversions for each source. I like it even better than google analytics.

Careful with URL shorteners, you should just use your own redirects (you have more control and they can't be taken down.)

Or better yet setup a full fledged tracking solution like Prosper202...
