You could also purchase a tee from a campaign that is about to end and has already tipped. That would be cheaper than starting your own campaign and buying 3 shirts to make it tip.

This depends on how you go about niche blogging. Outsourcing helps speed things up and if you don't just rely on SEO and focus on paid ads, you can speed things up.

Not sure why directories, stores, forums, etc would necessarily be easier. Either way, just put the work into it and your chances of success will be greater.
