You'd need to use baidu for this. I'm pretty adept at keyword research when it comes to search engines but you need a fluent Cantonese/mandarin speaker who understands seo. Good luck with that.

Yeah I've heard of a few horror stories about adwords it's pretty dire actually. Google is only 30% of the traffic out there. I'm sure he is using PPV which is cheaper to test at least initially.

Try to target your demographics down to sex, age and area. then perhaps look into CPM not CPC. With a smaller group you get increased visibilty too.
