The problem is that .info domains are very cheap and a lot of spam websites have popped up on .info domains, that's why .info domains lost credibility.

I agree with dwaser,
If your traffic is not geared towards Google or branding but generally from referrals (clicking a link) then no one will notice much.
If you want to SEO the site then go .com....

I personally think it doesn't make that much difference, because most people don't even remember the website's URL they visited 2 min. ago. And I don't believe that many people even look at the URL...
