Links off WF are nofollow and have zero benefit for search engines. If it's done ethically and in a manner that's reasonable, I doubt WF cares either.

I completely agree, but you can do better on investments, it's just highly inconsistent and swings wildly. If you leveraged stock or purchased leveraged ETFs, you COULD do better, but it's not...

Some hosts have 100k sites on one single IP.

If it isn't, well Google does penalize IPs that are " bad...

Ok, if you have links in your footer to your home page on the same site, it will probably do basically nothing (not hurt or help) since usually the logo or header text is linked to the home page...
