Update: Split test has been running for a while now. However, there is not enough data with which to draw any conclusions. With that said, I do believe an outside copywriter will win the prize money....

Testing sequentially is not a valid way to split test. You always test in parallel against the control. To do so otherwise would be "fatally flawed." That's testing 101.
