The nice thing about using PayPal is that many people perceive their PayPal balance as "play" money and if they DO already have money in their account they will be more likely to spend it!

If it isn't IM, then conversions are absolutely better when you accept payment on your site - it is a trust factor. Tried it, tested it, tried it again. It can be a large factor. But it also costs...

It depends on where you're advertising. If you're trying to sell something on Craigslist for example, they might not know what PayPal is (weird I know) and would leave the site instead.

One thing I'd consider doing is adding some of those benefits (the boxes with the ticks) to the top fold of the site.

Maybe even widening the page width...
