I've made a separate mobile version of my website, and to be honest, can't recall the last time I made an update of it. So, try to make single responsive version. That's the only right way to do it....

W3 Total Cache works absolutely great for me. It bothers some other plugins which I had to turn off (comments and ratings I think) but it delivers static and zipped html to the client (browser) app....
