Sometimes I get them ranked within one month, but most time I have to wait 2 - 3 months. It depends on the competition.

In my experience it goes a lot quicker, if I can get a backlink from a site...

2-3 weeks is not a reasonable time frame. 2-3 months is the time frame, to see "true" seo rankings that stick and not fade. If you want instant traffic then use PPC, but that can be costly if not...
