Aaron take a look at trying to replicate it with jQuery/CSS3. Pretty much most flash animation and interaction can be emulated (with a bit of work).

When you're adding the new emails, select the check box at the bottom saying configure manually. This gives the dialog box up with the ability to set all the email params from the old outlook...
