There are MANY cases where automation just makes sense. We write a lot of bots that have 100% legitimate use. It's called working smarter, not harder.

Whose business is more important? Yours or someone elses? In reality - your results are actually the ONLY thing that matters. And you will never know what the result will be UNLESS you have tested...

Usually, I'd go with 1 to 3 frequency cap if your goal is to drive sales or leads to an offer.

8 is a bit excessive, unless you're going for brand awarness and you're not concerned about...
