I still find social media to be the best source of traffic that leads to conversions and it's free too.
Pay per click advertising, article marketing, email marketing etc will also work better...

It will depend on the product: some products do well on Pinterest, others on facebook..
You Can use solo ads, PPC programs like Google Adwords, Bing ads, etc which will work better.
