We see significant differences between links that are pinged vs those that are not and we deal with a lot of sites in a lot of niches. But sites that aren't ranking at all it makes little difference usually.

This works very well.

Get an account on Pingler. Set it to ping automatically every 3 days.

... It doesn't take long to rank.

Not just classified sites. Web 2.0's, articles, press releases, guest posts.. almost any sub Url on an established trusted site. Even (and especially) Facebook pages.

I don't agree with people to see if google lists you for a week. Once you create a page ping. Then periodically change something and ping again. Google does not care how often you ping in my experience they care if you've not made any changes. Google wants to see updates that's all. Update and ping away guys.
