iframes for Facebook Fan Pages (free 'how to' guide)

Hi guys,

Facebook Fan Pages make the change to iframes on March 10th, so I've been trying to work out how to create those cool 'like and reveal' panels for my pages.

It took me quite a while to figure it out, but I've created a 'how to' page in my Facebook notes here:

I've also created several videos on the subject as I've figured things out, and you can access these at YouTube.com:

I can't offer 1-to-1 support with this stuff as it's offered free, but if you spot any errors or need clarification, just add a comment to the Facebook note and I'll get back to you.

It needs at least the technical ability to be able to upload files to a server ... but if you can do that, you should be fine with these instructions.

Hope that saves some people a lot of head scratching on Wednesday :-)

  Hi - nothing for sale here to access this information ... I'm just sharing this.
  
  By March 11th - when the changes happen - I'll also have 7 free iframe 'how to' videos available via that page.
  
  At the moment I'm building 'likes' and users on the page ... so no charge for any of that information at the moment :-)

your facebook page is good. Add other tabs too... maybe wall in which we can write comments etc.

  Thanks for the videos and great information that you have provided.
  Do you know of any way to add friends or invite with the new FB settings. I had seen a post on here a while ago but cant find it any more of how to add a fbml page that has a "add friend button"

  My understanding is that the 'share' function - which I think you're talking about - is disappearing: Facebook 'Like' Button Takes Over Share Button Functionality You can still use it on FBML pages, so the best advice is for you to add lots of FBML tabs to your fan pages before they disappear this week. You will be able to keep using them until FB finally removes them, but they have agreed to support them for over a year. I think you're referring to something like I have on this page: Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More ?

Great info! I'm still trying to figure out why people are having any sort of problem with the introduction of iframing. In my mind, it's MUCH easier and more flexible than FBML. Am I missing something?

  bnwebm I agree, it's much better than FBML ... and it's really easy to do yourself. Check out this video:

  I haven't seen anyone else teaching this technique, it's an HTML-and-FTP-free way of creating iframes.
  
  aaronngoh Existing FBML stays active for a year or so, but you need to move to iframes now - and quite simply they're much better.
  
  They're not complicated either ... a few new tricks to learn, but nothing bad.

Would you happen to know by chance if having a 3rd party application post content to your Facebook fan page wall would hopefully boost your SEO, as well as the Facebook page being indexed higher in organic search engine listings?
