Help me not go broke on FB ads by telling me something conrete.

Dear fellow Warriors.

I am seeking your advice on what stuff to read up on before spending any more money, as I burnt through $500 on FB ads, before realizing those clicks weren't worth nothing!

I want to learn how to not go broke by learning how to make money doing this.

My angle of attack:
  • Use FB ads to promote Affiliate links.
  • Mask link using own domain shortener.
  • Link points to landingpage of third party website.
  • Conversion?
What I have so far.
  • Own FB Page. (No activity or likes. I jut got it for the name)
  • Own domain with same name as FB Page.
  • Affiliate links and own domain shortener.

I´ve also burnt myself on some of the FB WSO´s here. You know, the "Amazing low CPC on FB"-ones.

Being a newbie, I do stupid stuff as there´s no one there to tell me I am being stupid. Being a newbie, I Google a lot. In fact, so much that I end up feeling tired instead of inspired and motivated to do concrete stuff. Spending a great deal searching, when not knowing what to search for during my limited time online, and I feel like I´m at an dead end.

Can someone with experience from this form of marketing give me any pointers?

I don't think it's worth it spending money on facebook just to have your ads promoted or whatsoever. There are many ways to do things online, some are free even. So you don't really need to spend that amount of money. Do your research and read some tutorials online.

Thank you for your reply, Jordangracia. Do you mind sharing what your angle of attack was / is?

I don´t mind reading tutorials, let alone do research. What´s missing in those comments are the links, the why´s the how´s and the what´s.

I´ve set up a model that I want to go with, and I already burnt myself spending money not knowing what I was doing with said model. Wanting to continue with this model, I´m hoping some people with experience in that field can give me a few pointers, because I am already kneedeep in that pile of crap, and I actually feel comfortable in it the more I move around it.

Actually facebook ads can do wonders if used properly. I would recommend you to try to build your list using fb ads and not pointing visitors to your affiliate links. However first you should have something to give away for free to make people optin to your list and then an autoresponder series which will make people trust you and then buy from you!

Using facebook offers (google it if you don't know what it is) you can build both your list and the following of your fb page and that way get even more benefits from your ad campaign. You should certainly do a lot of testing and start with a really low budget ($2-3 daily) to see what works for you!

Facebook ads can work your right. Your also right about building a list. No point having a good product without a list. Having a strong understanding of your target audience is always an advantage. Since they burnt in the past its only natural for them to cautious. Personally I would look to build your brand organically using a combination of difference social media platforms. If done right it can be as effective as paying for ads.

People are always attracted to people or brands that they believe in and do not hat you need to give them a strong enough reason to do that. This can be done by showing that your an authority on this matter or your giving away some invaluable advice. Either way you have to understand that to be successful you need to take baby steps to reach your goals. This takes time but the hard work you put in now with only benefit later.

    Hey KD,

That's not the right way to go about it. If simply directing traffic to a landing page worked today, our job would be so much easier.

A much better way would be to create your own landing page - hopefully, a blog post with nice, juicy content where you can capture emails and offer significant value. Next step would be to mine this list for revenue.

A lot also depends on the kind of stuff you're promoting. I use FB to drive shares for my blog posts. Putting in even $5/post on a shareworthy post (you know those "You won't BELIEVE" headlines - yup those) can bring in hundreds of shares and thousands of visitors.

Focus on doing the work at your end before you worry about optimizing Facebook ads

These kind of replies are exactly the type of stuff I have been looking for! Thank you all for taking the time!

@oWEN. I´m not sure it´s even a niche. The general idea is to have a website that focuses on saving money. As in, "Save money by preparing yourself before grocery shopping", "Why you won´t spend an hour saving thousands by checking mortgage rates", "Many streams form a river big" etc. The landing page will be a blog, but you can also navigate the menu, and find yourself on a sales page with tons of great offers. (For those who spend more time on the site, and like it.)

As for content, there will be pro. articles by renowned experts within their respective fields. I ofc.will pay good money for this content, and that´s why I thought direct linking to affiliate landing pages from merchants would bring in some of that money for to reinvest it. You´re talking about authority, You are god´damned right, Sir!

@kochtgr. Thank you, as well! I appreciate the fact that you tell me straight up that it can work, just if done with a different angle of attack. Forces me to rid my ludacris idea that I am stuck with atm. Eye opening to say the least!

@sashas. Much appreciated! Point taken about the "our jobs would be so much easier". You`re right. The landing page with the blog post is what I am going to focus on in the beginning!

As for all of you, I will write down ¨quotes from each and every one of you and hang it up on my office walls. Since I am starting out, and these are the first concrete tips I´ve gotten, I´ll treat them like my golden nuggets. (No pun intended)

You all say the way to go is building a list, and getting my hands on an autoresponder. Can you please point me in the right direction for tutorials regarding basic list building, and how it´s done - the same for autoresponders please. (Like when I started with wordpress, theres so much information it´s overwhelming, so I prefer sticking with recommendations).

Once again - thank you! Have a great day!

One more thing. Instead of going for all these WSO´s (Damn, I had to discover the hard way that there is no quality control with these) is maybe the paid warrior + membership worth it?

From my own (limited but actual) experience, FB ads work best to build a FB community, not to take them to another site. People who are on FB want to remain on FB.
